Vélib
I discovered the Vélib’ (short for vélo liberté) in Paris - a public bicycle transit system which comprises of a network of hundreds of bike stops through the city (only 300m apart). In a city with a great metro system, this filled the void. It helped me see the city better, actually navigate the streets without needing to walk and the best part? It's free if you return it to another stand within a half hour. It's the perfect solution for short commutes, and I can't wait for it to come to the US.
